November this year in India was warmest since 1901, reveals report

The month of November 2024 was the warmest recorded November in India since 1901, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Notably, the nationwide average maximum, minimum, and mean temperatures for November were recorded at 0.62 degrees Celsius, 1.05 degrees Celsius and 0.84 degrees Celsius, above the temperature measured from 1991 to 2020.
With this, November 2024 became the second warmest in India in terms of maximum temperature and third warmest for mean temperature, while ranking seventh warmest for minimum temperatures on record.
The northwest region was the worst affected, and it witnessed its warmest November ever with a mean temperature anomaly of +1.37 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the central part of the country and the south peninsular region were also higher than the normal temperatures.
These deviations highlight the broader trends of warming climatic patterns affecting various geographical landscapes across the nation.
This warmth in November, typically a cooler month heralding the onset of winter, has raised alarms about the variability and unpredictability of current climate conditions in India.
